The Innovations Team presented the Innovations Award to staff members from the Library and Communications for the Library’s Summer Readers Bonanza, a promotional campaign for the Adult Summer Reading Program.

The Summer Readers Bonanza featured “pop-up” giveaway prizes each week during the 2013 Adult Summer Reading Program. The giveaways contained cool items Linda Sappenfield snagged at Book Expo America – including autographed copies of books, advanced reader copies, tote bags and other gifts. When the prize appeared in the Library, the first person to spot it could claim it.

Linda promoted the prizes on her blog and they were featured on the City’s website, Facebook pages, and a promotional video using celebrity photos from the Expo. The promotion helped attract 278 participants to the Program, a dramatic increase from 2012.
