With Wal-Mart ending its generic prescription drugs program, the City will begin offering a new free generic prescription drugs by mail program on Jan. 1.

“The free generic prescription drugs program is a wonderful benefit that can help keep employees healthy,” says Jay Light, benefits manager. “If employees can’t afford their medication, they often just don’t take it.”

With this new program, the City will pay the full cost of generic versions of prescription drugs that are ordered by mail.

“We expect this benefit can help prevent many health issues from escalating,” says Jay. “It is a very important program.”
