healthiest employerThe City of Round Rock has again been selected as one of the Healthiest Employers in Central Texas by the Austin Business Journal.

For the second year in a row, Round Rock was the highest rated city municipality. Twenty firms were nominated for the award in the Large Companies Division.

Applicants were chosen based on how they scored on the national Healthiest Employer Index (HEI). The HEI is a 1‐100 scale that scores and ranks participating organizations.

The HEI measures wellness programming across six categories:

  • Culture and Leadership Commitment
  • Foundational Components
  • Strategic Planning
  • Communications and Marketing
  • Programming and Interventions
  • Reporting and Analysis

Additionally, the City was runner‐up in the national State and Local Government Benefits Association “Challenge.” This award is given to the organization in the United States with the most innovative benefit plan design, as well as innovative benefit options, wellness initiatives, and methods to engage employees.

The City of Round Rock was commended on the success of RockCare, the on‐site employee medical clinic, providing free generic drugs to employees and encouraging mammograms and colonoscopies by covering these at no cost to the employee. This is the second time in the past three years that the City of Round Rock has been national runner‐up.
